Assistant Box Office Manager

Reports to: Box Office Manager
Fringe Theatre Adventures is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dependable team player to fill the full-time summer contract position of Assistant Box Office Manager.
In conjunction with the Box Office Manager, the Assistant is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of the Edmonton International Fringe™ Theatre Festival Box Office. The Assistant Box Office Manager will be supervised directly by the Box Office Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the inputting of all festival data into the ticketing software.
- Collaborate on the design and production of all festival passes and box office signs.
- Compose and/or maintain all box office information and documents accordingly.
- Assists with financial reconciliations and cash management.
- Oversee daily operations of the Fringe™ Festival box offices.
- Liaise with IT, Production and Volunteer departments regarding box office issues.
- Assist in hiring, training, scheduling & supervising box office and artist services staff.
- Assist with training and continuously collaborate with volunteer B.O. Team Leaders.
- Communicate effectively and provide quality service to patrons, sponsors & funders.
- Collaborate with external service providers progressively and effectively.
- Become familiar with and execute all FTA Box Office policies accordingly.
- Deal with customer service issues quickly, professionally and effectively in a bustling festival atmosphere.
- Provide exceptional support to all levels of management, staff and volunteers.
- Ensures tasks and duties are being completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Box Office Manager.
Qualifications:
- Box Office experience would be an asset.
- An appreciation and passion for the Arts is an asset.
- Knowledge of a theatre environment, specifically the Fringe™ Festival is an asset.
- Experience with computers and general office administration skills.
- Proficient with Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Windows software.
- Cash management experience.
- Creative-minded with the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances in a bustling festival environment.
- Possess excellent customer service, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Working some weekends and evenings will be required.
- Some physical work required.

Front of House Event Staff Shift Leader
Reports to: Event Services Coordinator
The Front of House Event Staff Shift Leader is a casual position within Fringe™ Theatre Adventures’ (FTA) Operations Department, overseeing operations of the Front of House and bar services for company and client events hosted at the TransAlta Arts Barns.
This position works shifts as needed for a minimum of 20 hours per week and must be ProServe certified to work in food and alcohol preparation areas. Sporadic hours, late nights and weekends are mandatory for this position. Heavy lifting will be required at times.
Duties & Responsibilities
Facility – TransAlta Arts Barns
- Assist Events Services with administrative duties when required.
- Reading notes provided by the Event Services Manager or Event Services Coordinator on event details.
- Directing bartenders and Front of House Event staff.
- Ensuring public spaces are clean and presentable prior to clients’ arrival.
- Meeting with clients as they arrive at the facility and, acting as the FTA representative, be available to assist them throughout the duration of each rental.
- Assisting FTA bartenders as necessary.
- Liaising with the Technical staff and coordinating the opening and closing of the House.
- Familiar with traditional theatre protocol and etiquette.
- Providing event reports informing management of any issues.
- Securing the building at the end of events.
- Familiar with emergency procedures and the layout of the building and its supplies.
- Work on ladders is occasionally required.
- Ensuring compliance to AGLC laws.

Front of House Event Staff
Reports to: Event Services Coordinator
The Front of House Event Staff is a casual position within Fringe™ Theatre Adventures’ (FTA) Operations Department, overseeing operations of the Front of House and bar services for company and client events hosted at the TransAlta Arts Barns.
This position is hired as needed when the Event Services Coordinator is not available and must be ProServe certified to work in food and alcohol preparation areas. The schedule for this position is created on a monthly basis. Some heavy lifting will be required. Currently looking for weekday availability for shifts starting at 5 PM and weekend availability for early mornings and late nights.
